iCommons Canada Launch Party.

Please join us on the evening of Thursday September 30, 2004 for the
official launch of the Canadian version of the Creative Commons
(cc-ca) licences for digital artworks. The licence was ported for use
in Canada by the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic
(CIPPIC) in collaboration with the Law & Technology Program at the
University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law.

Professor Lawrence Lessig, Chair of Creative Commons, will be the
guest of honour. Other guests include 'The Internet and Law: A Global
Conversation' conference attendees, educators and students from across
the country, and friends from the arts, business and computer
community.

The party will feature live music from acclaimed Canadian electronic
music artist DJ Nonsense, who is creating a special educational
compilation of the history of sampling in the music industry - to be
freely-distributed to partygoers. The evening will also include an
exhibition of digital artwork made available under cc and/or cc-ca
licences.

19h30 at The Collection/Bar 56 Byward Market, Ottawa.

Yes, I will be there -
56 Byward Market, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 30.

Probably I'll learn something, but if it is all over my head at least my
presence will add to the strength of the group.

I can't find where to notify that Web site, so I'm notifying you.

Cheers,
Rosaleen

Ahh. I am normally logged in so I forget that most people see "login or
register to post comments" rather than just the "add new comment" I
normally see.

Will be great to see you. Haven't seen you in person for quite some
time now! This isn't quite the 10 year anniversary of FLORA Community
Web, but this launch party for iCommons Canada may serve as the best
avenue for a FLORA get-together.

Hi! Maybe I can visit here. Take care. :-) /A.
I am quite excited about the launch. Among the people I know will be
going are a few FLORA.org folks, some GOSLINGcommunity.org folks, and a
few executive assistants of members of parliament (My MP's office, David
McGuinty, as well as the office of the Minister of Heritage).

I am also excited about meeting Lawrence Lessig whos work I have based a
fair bit of my work on. Last Thursday I bought his first book (He wrote
3, and I had not read the first) and posted a review yesterday.
